The Arpenaz 2+ tent is a great option if you’re on a budget or simply looking for a comfortable and spacious tent to start your backing endeavors with.
This simple dome shaped tent is double walled and offers two entrances and two vestibules for extra dry storage if needed. A single pocket inside and a roof hook to hang a light from.
With a floor size of 120cm width, 200 cm length and 121 cm height, it makes for a comfortable fit. The tent body is held up with two fiberglass poles and a cross bar to keep the walls vertical to increase livability in the tent. The waterproof flysheet attaches to the same fiberglass poles as the inner body and is secured with straps. The tent is free standing, but for more sturdiness it can be tied down with four guy lines.
The tent inner has four mesh panels and one ventilation hole in the flysheet for increased airflow and decreased condensation. The tent has a three season rating and can withstand wind up to 40km per hour and rain of 200mm per hour. The floor has a tub design and the material used is strong enough that you won’t need to lay down a protective tarp.
The complete tent weighs in at 2.9kg and comes in a carry bag for easier transportation. The overall weight in comparison to space and design is reasonable, making this a great budget tent.
I’ve used the tent in the mountains and valleys on wilderness hikes, as well as basic camping next to the river and it held up very well through the wind and rain. The tent is spacious enough for me and my unpacked backpack (gear spread out) to fit very comfortably.
To lighten the overall weight, I switched to MSR Groundhog tent stakes and what a difference that made.
